10 CUTS - VISIONS OF LIGHT
Visions Of Light As Mycelium Bloom continues to cast its spell across Balearic beaches, late night headphones sessions and sun-drenched festival fields, Visions Of Light remain guided by the same instinctive spirit that has defined the project from day one.

So what would a festival curated entirely by Visions Of Light sound like? We asked the band to assemble ten tracks that would soundtrack the ultimate VOL gathering. From deep rooted influences and cosmic explorers to overlooked gems and timeless favourites, these are the records that capture the atmosphere, emotion and sense of adventure at the heart of their world. Welcome to the Visions Of Light Festival. The sun is setting, the speakers are warming up and the journey is about to begin.

Stevie Wonder "Golden Lady"

This is one of those songs that demands you lie back, relax, look up and soak in the sky. The pianos, bassline, organ and of course Stevie's voice are mesmerising and collide and flow to paint a picture full of colour and vibrancy. Following Stevie would be an impossibility but setting the mood would be a dream.

Massive Attack "Weather Storm" (Protection)

When the sun sets and it's late in the night and sitting in the camp site chatting this low-slung nodding piece if trip hop soundtracks those moments perfectly. The emotion and movement of the piano gives the looped rhythm life and purpose setting a narrative that is both playful and cinematic. Beautiful.

Cymande "Dove"

A ten minute masterclass in song writing and performance this time as we trip thorough a psychedelic journey led by that rather excellent guitar line, spinning a narrative that could be interpreted differently with every listen. The type of song that has the funk to get everyone shuffling in unison or lie on the hill watching the hordes dance away while you transport to the cosmos riding on a purple dragon called Robert.

Al Hudson & The Soul Partners "Spread Love"

I've listened to and played this track for years the original from Al Hudson, then the Lenny Fontana version and more recently Nu:Tones fantastic rework on Hospital records. It's just one of those tracks that makes me smile, move and think sunshine. Beautiful sentiment that couldn't be apt in the current global political situation. 100% festival vibes for me.

The Beloved "The Sun Rising"

This classic springs to mind for me. I was just chatting to a good friend a few days ago about ticket stubs for gigs and then I started digging through some old flyers and I found a few, a poorly photo copied piece of card with just an old mobile number on, took me back to being in a field at dawn with a few hundred people with steam coming off the bodies of the revellers uplifting and quietly euphoric.

Roy Ayers Ubiquity "Everybody Loves the Sunshine"

Nothing says summer or festival vibes more than 'Everybody Loves the Sunshine'. Lazy groove instantly brings to mind wide-open fields, smiles, warm beer, sunshine on your red face and good people coming together.

Be.Lanuit "Hippie Picasso" (Ft Melon Jimenez, AmarĂº & Kasper Tranberg)

This track is the ultimate sound for bringing sun-soaked vibes and pure relaxation throughout an open air setting, perfect for loved up crowds and free spirits alike.

Easy Star All Stars "Money"

An immediate choice of dub infused reggae. A perfect rework of a timeless classic (Pink Floyd's 'Money'), perfect for any wind down session.

Leftcorner "Feel the Jazz Flow"

This track never gets old, can be listened to endlessly always giving a vibe of relaxation and freedom. A personal favourite to suit a sun- soaked session or something to unwind to.

Tappa Zukie "In Dub"

We have a lot of dub influences in our tracks and a shared love for the music so this would have us all nod in agreement when this drops. 50 years old and still does the business, the dub echo chambers are in full flow with Lee Scratch Perry on co-production duties. Let your mind unfold and embrace the clouds of smoke that will fill your subconscious.
