It’s always good to hear a new Third Attempt release. This week he is back on his home label Beatservice with ‘We’re all Connected’, an EP that explores his more emotional side through sound.
Here we ask him to talk us through Ten Tracks by one of his favourite producers. Third Attempt choses LTJ Bukem.
“Ever since the 90s, LTJ (Long time junglist) has been a critical part of the Drum and Bass / Downtempo / Jungle scene. His style of production is on the warmer, jazzier, groovier shades of the spectrum. His selections and compilations also legendary. Among them is the Earth series and Logical Progressions. His also the label-runner for Good Looking records.
By pure chance, I stumbled over his catalogue when I searched around the internet for Electronic Music. This was in my early teens, and I believe it was crucial for my direction in taste and production angle. What inspires me about LTJ Bukem’s musical, DJ and mixing style. Is the ability to not be constrained to one certain time and place. Music that is highly adaptable. Whether it would be at home or at a festival, it works everywhere.”

Addictive lounge-sound that could repeat forever imo. Peaks when the 808 bassline hits around the middle

Continuing being true to the style. Perfect atmosphere

I love the jazz influence, upright bass together with the bass on this one. Every element sits right.
The James Bond Theme (LTJ Bukem Remix)
Righteous remix that works suprisingly well with the dnb sound

Perfect for cruising with the sun in your face.
LTJ Bukem - Unconditional Love (Quintet Plays Reconditioned Love Remix)
This one I just had to throw in there, It's Drum & Bass but house. Very interesting blend of genres.
LTJ Bukem EARTH series, specifically number one.
This was an eye opener for me in terms of sound and what it represents.
