Please introduce yourself to our readers.

I'm Steve Mill, a DJ, producer, and label owner based in Greece. I've been involved in music for over two decades, both behind the decks and in the studio, and I'm passionate about telling stories through sound — stories that connect people, emotions, and moments on the dancefloor.

Where are you based currently?

I'm based in Thessaloniki, a city in northern Greece.

What is it you love most about the city in which you live?

Thessaloniki has an amazing energy. It's a blend of history, youth culture, and creative spirit. The sea is right at the city’s edge, which brings a kind of calmness, but there’s always something happening - musically, artistically, socially. It’s small enough to feel intimate but big enough to keep you inspired.

How is the health of the club scene where you are?

It’s evolving. There’s a strong underground community here that pushes through, even when the infrastructure isn’t always ideal. Lately, more spaces and promoters have started to take risks, bringing in quality acts and supporting local talent, which is really encouraging.

What has been a highlight of the last year for you?

Without a doubt, finishing and signing Can’t Go Back. It’s a track that means a lot to me personally, and seeing it connect with people during my DJ sets has been incredibly rewarding.

And what has been the biggest challenge?

Balancing the creative and emotional side of making music with the realities of life outside the studio. I went through a major life change this year, and keeping focused on the music while staying grounded was a real challenge. But I think that contrast helped the music become more honest.

Tell us a little about your label, its mission and ethos.

My label is all about authenticity and musical storytelling. We’re focused on house music with soul, depth, and emotion — music that stands the test of time. It’s also a platform to mentor new talent and create a community that uplifts each other.

Give us an overview of Can’t Go Back single.

Can’t Go Back is a soulful, emotionally charged nu disco/house track. It’s about reflecting on the past but making a conscious choice to move forward. The vocal is central to the message — it’s heartfelt and powerful, riding over a groove that’s deep and danceable but also introspective.

How long did it take to come together?

I originally wrote the music back in 2023 — the instrumental came together in about a month. But then I held onto it for quite a while, waiting for the right vocal. It took about a year and a half to find the voice that truly matched the emotion I had in mind. Once that clicked, everything else fell into place naturally.

Do you take some time – after you have made a track – to leave it alone for a while to evaluate?

Always. I find stepping away gives me perspective. Sometimes what sounds amazing in the moment might not stand the test of time — and other times a simple idea reveals its depth after a break.

Who are the icons that inspire the music that you make?

Larry Heard, Kerri Chandler, and Ron Trent are big ones for me. But also artists like Max Cooper or Bonobo — those who understand both atmosphere and rhythm. I’m inspired by creators who can move both your feet and your heart.

What other artists do you follow right now? Who do you think is putting out great sounds?

I’ve been loving music from artists like Felipe Gordon, Byron the Aquarius, and Laurence Guy. There’s a new wave of producers blending house with jazz, soul, and breaks — it’s super refreshing.

What was the last record you purchased?

It was a reissue of Cassius - 1999 iconic album. Timeless music. One of those albums that still gives me goosebumps.

What can we expect next from Steve Mill?

More music that’s honest and groove-driven. I’ve got a few collaborations in the pipeline and I’m also working on building a new night that reflects the vibe of my label. Plus, I’m diving deeper into live elements for my DJ sets — so expect a more immersive experience
