Sons Of Sevilla are definitely ones to watch. Two blood brothers from the North of England with a taste for the sunnier climes of the Mediterranean, a look of the West Coast of America, and a sound that evokes the hazy tripped out sun scorched 70s. Signed to Southern Californian label Ubiquity Records, they deliver an album of psychedelic indie pop that is way beyond their years. Here we ask Reuben and Henry to take us back to theirs after the club for their ‘late nite hours’ selection.
Terry Reid - Dean
The footage of Terry Reid performing Dean live at Glastonbury 1971 is one of the best live pieces of footage you'll see and Terry Reid's album 'River' we've listened to a lot of the years and has been a big inspiration to us.
Buena Vista Social Club - Chan Chan
This track is the soundtrack to our old family pub. It's the opening cut on their self-titled record and we used to play this daily setting up the bar to help us ease into the day’s work.
Neil Young - Harvest Moon
The feeling in this song inspired a big part of our musical direction when we started writing songs together.
JJ Cale - Cajun Moon
JJ Cale is right at the top of the pile when it comes to our favourite artists and songwriters. We’ve had his albums on repeat for years and his album naturally is one of the best records ever made in our opinion. This track features on another record of his called ‘Okie’ and is one of his best
Nino Ferrer - The Garden
Nino Ferrers record Nino and Radiah Et Le Sud has been a big inspiration to us and is another of our favourite songs.
Brian Jonestown Massacre - Anenome
We had the pleasure of meeting Anton last year in a bar in Leeds before his show at the Leeds Stylus . We’ve been big fans of BJM since watching the documentary Dig in our early teens
Black Pumas - Confines
April 2024 we had the pleasure of working with Adrian Quesada, the guitar player and producer of Black Pumas at his studio Electric Deluxe Recorders in Austin TX. Adrian produced our new album that will be released early next year on Ubiquity Records
Stone Roses - Fools Gold
The riff and groove in this tune might be the best from any English band ever.
Bob Dylan - Ballad Of A Thin Man
Were both big fans of Bob Dylan and this song has being doing the rounds in our pubs growing up for years. Maybe his best work?
Gene Clarke - No Other
Simply one of our favourite ever tunes.
