Enjoy this personal journey through sound in this curated selection from Fish Go Deep, featuring a blend of atmospheric synth-pop, "aural hugs" from production masters, and heartbreakingly beautiful vocal performances. This playlist traverses various musical styles, from the timeless strings of Nightmares On Wax to the intricate "world jazz" of Anouar Brahem, all tied together by a sense of raw emotion and instrumental mastery. Let us know you favorite track(s) in the comments below. I Don't Feel Guilty Anymore - fishgodeep & Mary Cigarettes
One of my favourite productions of ours. It has to be one of the most beautiful songs Mary has ever written. Sadly, he is no longer with us. Just sit back and listen to the raw emotion in this song. It breaks my heart every time big favourite in our house.

Just for a Moment - Ultravox.
From the Seminal 1978 album Systems Of Romance, when John Foxx was still in the band, it was a precursor to synth pop. Love the production, the stark use of synths and John's great vocal, one of those songs that seemed too short and all the better for it.

Harry - Daniel Lanois
Huge fan of Daniel Lanois. A very much an underrated vocalist, this is typical of his incredible production values. It's so deep and warm. It's like a big aural hug from the master.

Deacon Blues - Steely Dan
This is just perfection, one of my favourite tracks of all time simple as that. Topped off with that beautiful sax solo. Musical bliss.

I Laugh in the Mouth Of The Lion - Pino Palladino & Blake Mills
Just feckin amazing music from these two master musicians. Pino's bass and Blake's guitar weaving their magic, the track just takes off with that weird sax, taken from the LP - That Wasn’t A Dream.

Les Nuits - Nightmare On wax
I guess everyone knows this really well. It still sounds amazing to me. The string intro melts my heart every time and then it slides into that great bass line. Timeless music I never tire of hearing this musical perfection.

What We Had - Gllian Welsh & Dave Rawlings
Just an amazing song that is so heartbreakingly beautiful. The voices blend so well together, and the string arrangements underline the song so well. The vinyl pressing is so good. Dave mastered the tapes directly to the lacquers, so it was never in the digital domain. It sounds like a classic album from the seventies, well worth checking it out.

Film Theme - Simple Minds
From the wonderfully wild ride that was Real To Reel Cacophony recorded and mixed by the John Leckie. It’s got that really late-night vibe I love - strange and atmospheric.

The Astounding Eyes Of Rita - Anouar Brahem
Beautiful track From Tunisian Oud master Anouar Brahem. It just builds so beautifully with all the players bouncing off one another. There so much space and beauty in this thrilling piece of world jazz. Sit back and enjoy.

Home - Depeche Mode
This one shows the genius of Martin Gore, written at a time when things weren’t going too well, and out of that conflict came this beautiful song. That guitar riff at the end always gets me. Martin has to be one of the great song writers of our time.
