There’s a certain kind of selector whose taste feels less like a playlist and more like a lived-in map — a trail of rooms, friends, late-night sessions, and records that changed the temperature of the air the moment the needle dropped. Ben Hixon is one of those people. A producer, engineer, DJ, and quiet architect behind some of the most forward-thinking music to come out of Dallas and beyond, Ben moves with the instinct of someone who’s spent years listening deeper than the surface. His world is built on feeling: dusty tapes, perfect harmonies, R&B deep cuts, house records that breathe, and the kind of songs that make you remember exactly where you were the first time you heard them. Whether he’s behind the boards shaping a project, behind the decks slowing a 7” to the perfect pitch, or just putting people onto something they didn’t know they needed, Ben Hixon’s selections always tell the truth about who he is — generous, curious, and rooted in the craft.
For his Everyone Back To Mine, he opens the door a little wider and lets us into the songs that shaped him, moved him, and stayed with him. It’s a list full of heart, memory, and impeccable taste — exactly what you’d expect from Ben Hixon.
Larry Heard - On My Way
Larry Heard in any moment is perfect. It's incredible — his range and this unique pocket he can sit in between: chill and energetic, heady but open. Special artist.

Kevin Moore (Keb' Mo') – Speak Your Mind
I first heard this song in an Eric Lau mix. Liv.e and I used to listen to that mix so much. She downloaded that track and put it on her drive and played it at a New Math Monday — like 2015 or something — and it blew my mind. Perfect track.

Central Ayr Productions – Hotter (PPU)
One of my favorite records I own. Anthony Cole from Orlando, I think? Some tapes he recorded in the 90s. Released by PPU in 2019. It's such an incredible song. Gritty tape sound.

Jack Herrera – Say U Gotta Man
This is one of the best albums of all time. No doubt. You can just run this album in any circumstance. Yup. This song is a good fit for chill settings, but for real, the whole album is. The bridge of this track pays homage to Tevin Campbell — -Can We Talk” — and I love that song too. So yeah.

Bobby Brown – Roni
My 3rd favorite track off this album at the moment. Great album. Great Babyface production. You can always hear Babyface singing the background vocals when he does, and it's so dope. Love Babyface.

Lucy Pearl – Everyday
Great track. Raphael Saadiq is a big influence on me. My favorite track on this album rotates. I think the harmonies toward the end of the track are dope. Also the guitar panning is sick.

Latoya Williams – Fallen Star
This song is incredible. Incredible vocalist. I’m probably wrong, but it sounds like Snoop on background vocals. The beat is insane too. Produced by Michael Saulsberry from the R&B group Portrait.

Tony! Toni! Toné! – Whatever You Want
It’s Raphael Saadiq again… yeah, this song is dope. I play it –8 on the turntable. –16 if optional. Or if I’m playing the 7”, I’ll play it at 33 instead of 45. Great track. Love the harmonies.

Kryptonyte – Love ft. Lord Byron & Pink Siifu
I produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered this album between 2015–17. Loved making this album. Everybody loves this song. Both Byron and Siifu snapped.

Robbie M – Thanks For The Love
Great song on a great album. I think they took it off streaming, but it’s so, so, so good. The synth sounds are perfect. Great music video too.
