Proceeds from Blast! [4] benefit our summer concert series, sound. SASSAS has an exciting season planned for 2007! We're happy to announce that sound. returns to the Schindler House for two concerts next summer: an evening in June with Smegma's Oblivia, Jackie Stewart, and Los Angeles composer Leticia Castaneda. Then in August, David Watson blows the bagpipes into the 21st century while Jessica Catron pulls nuances from the environmental whitewash on cello. In July, harsh noise and heavy metal musicians meet for a Nois y Night and in September NY avant garde stalwarts Ikue Mori and Zeena Parkins join legendary guitarist Fred Frith at REDCAT for their first joint Los Angeles appearance.
The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as a catalyst for the creation, presentation and recognition of experimental art and sound practices in the Greater Los Angeles area. Programs include sound. at the Schindler House; sound. at the REDCAT; sound. workshops; soundNet.org, an online concert archive; and soundNet recordings, CD compilations drawn from sound. concerts.
