SAN RAFAEL, - The Broadway star of “Mama Mia,” “Sunset, Boulevard” and “Chicago,” Karen Mason and Sal Viviano, star of the stage production, “The Full Monty” will put it all together for an incredible evening at the intimate Hoytt Theater with reserved, cabaret seating and candle lit tables on Saturday, November 22 at 8PM and Sunday, November 23 at 5PM. Karen Mason created the role of Tanya in the Broadway Company of the smash hit musical, “Mamma Mia” which she was awarded a 2002 Drama Desk Nomination and won the 2003 MAC Award for Major Female vocalist. “Looking and sounding better than ever, it’s time we put Mason in the pantheon of Broadway goddesses where she belongs!” says Next Magazine. Tickets for the Singers & Songwriters Series event are $37 for public/$32 for members or series of four for $125, includes priority seating. The Marin JCC is located at 200 N. An Acclaimed cabaret and concert artist, Mason has headlined Carneige Hall, the Russian Tea Room, The Algonquin, Rainbow & Stars and many more. The singer’s most recent New York solo concert appearance was at Lincoln Center’s Kaplan Penthouse as part of The American Songbook series. In addition, Mason is a two-time Bistro Award Winner and a six-time MAC Award winner. “There’s a reason Karen Mason is one of the leading cabaret figures in New York – actually, there are several: great voice, dynamic personality, boundless charm,” says the Chicago Tribune.
In addition to her latest award-winning and critically acclaimed CD, “When The Sun Comes Out,” a mix of standards and newer material, Mason has three other releases on Zeverly Records, “Christmas, Christmas, Christmas”, “Better Days,” featuring the song by her longtime composer/arranger, Brain Lasser and the 1988 Emmy Award-winning song “Hold Me”. “Mason has a voice that lifts the room to some new astral plane,” says The Village Voice.
The Detroit native, Sal Viviano made his Broadway debut in “The Three Musketeers” in 1984 and has toured playing the roles of Che in “Evita,” Billy in “Anything Goes,” Berger in “Hair” and Frederic in “The Pirates of Penzance.” Viviano received a 1998 Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor nomination for his performance in “Sunday in the Park with George.” Viviano has many television appearances including “One Life to Live,” “All My children,” and “The World of Film” for PBS. Additionally, he has sung with symphony Orchestras from Palm Desert to Brussels to Bermuda. He recently starred in Broadway’s “The Full Monty” and has made 40 CD recordings for Fanny Hill.
