 MTC - LIFE X 3

Marin Theatre Company will present LIFE X 3, an esoteric comedy from French playwright Yasmina Reza, the author of the international mega-hit ART, as its second production of the current season, November 11-December 12. (Opening Night is Tuesday, November 16, 8 p.m.)

The play revolves around the ensuing dramas that occur when a couple turns up at the right house – on the wrong night – for a dinner party. Henry (Dan Hiatt) plays an astrophysicist married to somewhat manipulative Sonia (Delia MacDougall). What they think is going to be a quiet night with their child, turns upside down when Henry’s distinguished colleague Hubert (Warren Keith) and his ditzy wife Ines (Julia Brothers) show up for dinner. There’s no food in the house, but after drinking plenty of Sancerre, the evening degenerates quickly into barbs and rejoinders and ample flirtation. But then, Reza decides to rewind the action, and create slight variations (a run in the stockings, a screaming child that won’t go to bed) that become a catalyst resulting in three completely different conclusions.

LIFE X 3 was translated by Christopher Hampton, who also translated Reza’s ART and THE UNEXPECTED MAN. MTC veteran Amy Glazer directs.

Performances are Tuesday, November 11 through Sunday, December 12. (OPENING NIGHT IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 8PM)

All performances are at Marin Theatre Company, 397 Miller Avenue in Mill Valley. Tickets range from $28-$46 with Pay-What-You-Can on Tuesdays, excluding Opening Night, September 14. Senior tickets are half price for weekday and Saturday matinees. Half-price tickets are available for full-time students. Order tickets at 415-388-5208 or online at www.marintheatre.org
