SAN FRANCISCO, CA., September 6, 2004 – Wave your Italian flag as you dine al fresco or picnic on a curb while you enjoy the 136th ITALIAN HERITAGE PARADE weekend. The parade, one of San Francisco’s most anticipated events and the city’s oldest civic event will include an entire weekend of festivities making it more celebratory than ever before and bringing alive an authentic slice of Italian life. The weekend opens with the GRAND BANQUET & BALL on Friday evening, followed by the CAL-ITALIA WINE & FOOD TASTING on Saturday in Washington Square Park, and culminates in the ITALIAN HERITAGE PARADE on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 pm. Honoring Italian-American pioneers, the parade action begins at 12:30pm at the foot of Jefferson and Stockton Streets in Fisherman’s Wharf, proceeds south through North beach on Columbus Avenue, and ends in Washington Square Park in front of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Following the parade, the fun and festivities continue with a Ferrari Car show, carnival games and traditional Italian food and live entertainment.
