If you've had the wherewithal to check out any of Nick Chacona's records, you'd be confounded by an eclectic and decidedly different mix of deep house, bangin' Chicago trax and electronic disco. Oh, and his epic, punk meets dub meets house anthem, "Band Practice." Said tune got spun the world over by everyone from Doc Martin to Harvey to the Idjut Boys and back and since its release back in '03, the man's been on a roll. With singles dropping on Steve Kotey's esteemed Bear Funk label ("Angel Dust Swan Dive"), German powerhouse Mood Music ("Meso Loco") and legendary San Francisco imprint Grayhound ("X Y and Sometimes Z") over the past twelve months, the future is looking bright for this New York native.
