Roy Rogers, the master of bottleneck slide guitar and Norton Buffalo a soulful musician and the finest multi-genre mouth harp player of our time come together with an undeniable chemistry ranging through a dazzling mix of blues, R&B, ballads, country, jazz and rock. The Grammy nominated duo have had outstanding careers individually and their collaboration as a duo recording and performing act has won them additional acclaim and adulation from fans. These two Bay Area based artists first worked together in the 80’s and have recorded two albums for Blind Pig records, “R & B” and “Travelin Tracks.” “Travelin Tracks” was widely acclaimed by publications such as Downbeat, The San Francisco Chronicle and People magazine, People called the recording “an album with more bounce than a book of bad checks, a spirited mass of souped-up slide guitar and blustery blues harmonica.”
Norton Buffalo is considered one of the most versatile and seasoned harmonica virtuosos in the world. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “no one else who pouts tongue to reed can touch him.” He has contributed to over 100 major albums by artists as diverse as Bonnie Raitt, Marshall Tucker, Johnny Cash, Kenny Loggins and others. In addition Norton released two solo albums for Capitol Records, “Lovin In the Valley of the Moon” and “Desert Horizon,” that showcased his wizardry on the harmonica, as well as his strong talents as a songwriter, producer and powerful vocal talent. The albums received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, People Magazine and Easy Rider magazine. Norton Buffalo performs with his own band, The Knockouts and has built a strong following of fans crossing through many musical styles.
Roy Rogers is recognized around the world of as one of the leading practitioners of modern slide guitar. “Pundits who bemoan the scarcity of guitar gods haven’t laid ears on Roy Rogers, whose slide riffs could peel a crawfish,” says USA Today. In addition Rogers is recognized as an accomplished producer and songwriter. He was the top-flight record producer of John Lee Hooker’s Grammy-award winning albums including, “The Healer,” “Mr. Lucky,” “Boom, Boom,” and others. He is also featured on Bonnie Raitt’s new hit release “Silver Lining” in a song he co-wrote with Ms. Raitt. He currently has eight solo recordings in addition to the two duet recordings with Buffalo, “Chops Not Chaps” and “Slidewinder.”
From high energy upbeat blues, to down-home back porch picking, to beautiful and soulful ballads these two masters have made their mark on American music with their recordings and continue to do so in live performance.
