The Bay Area is in for some ‘Sheep Thrills’ at the Solano County Fair July 11-20, when the Fair pays tribute to the agricultural roots of the County. From the ‘New Ewe’ contest to the livestock nursery, sheep dog trials to an exhibit tracking wool from the sheep to the shawl, it’s a wild and woolly ride during the 10-day event. And, interspersed daily is an eclectic and diverse entertainment lineup on the Team Chevrolet Concert Arena, including The Isley Brothers, The Neville Brothers, Tower of Power and more (see entertainment release). Other attractions include the Professional Garden Showcase in the center of the Fairgrounds, a sunflower wall, planted by students in March at the Fair’s ‘Youth Ag Day’, daily horse racing July 9-July 20) which features a special “Seabiscuit Day” on July 19th with a bobblehead giveaway of the legendary thoroughbred on that day. Plus, everyone’s fair favorites -- food, a midway with rides and games for all ages, pig racing and much, much more. The Solano County Fair will be held July 11-20 at the Fairgrounds, located at 900 Fairgrounds Drive at the intersection of Rte. 37 and Interstate 80 in Vallejo. Gates open at 11am.
