 Doing Nothing

TOM LUTZ
reading & book signing for "Doing Nothing: A History of Loafers, Loungers, Slackers, and Bums in America"
Tuesday, June 27th at 7 pm
at The Booksmith (1644 Haight Street in San Francisco)

Couch potatoes, goof-offs, freeloaders, laggards, idlers, and shirkers: ever since the Industrial Revolution, when the work ethic was formed, there has been a chorus of individuals ridiculing the pretensions of hardworking respectability. "Doing Nothing: A History of Loafers, Loungers, Slackers, and Bums in America" is Tim Lutz's story of the layabouts who stretch and yawn while the rest of society worries and sweats.

Tom Lutz’s previous books include "Crying: A Natural and Cultural History of Tears," "American Nervousness," and "1903: An Anecdotal History."

Author events are free and are sponsored by The Booksmith (1644 Haight Street in San Francisco). For further information, call 415-863-8688 or visit www.booksmith.com If you can't attend this event and would like to order a signed copy of the author's new book, please email or phone our store.
