Project Bandaloop Presents " Crossing: Stories Of Gravity And Transformation"
PROJECT BANDALOOP PRESENTS “CROSSING: STORIES OF GRAVITY AND TRANSFORMATION” AS WORK IN PROGRESS
JUNE 5-8 IN OAKLAND
OAKLAND, CA – Project Bandaloop, whose dance performances off mountains, buildings and other pinnacles seemingly defy gravity, will present a multi-media work in progress titled Crossing: Stories of Gravity and Transformation June 5-8, in an Oakland warehouse located at 1919 Market St. (at the corner of 19th and Market). Crossing: Stories of Gravity and Transformation is the result of a two-year project that began in the Sierra. The site-specific mountain phase of Crossing blended the challenges of crossing a mountain range and the aesthetics of making dance. The centerpiece of Crossing was performed vertically on Wildcat Point near Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite. This current work in progress will be one of the few times that Project Bandaloop will perform indoors. Using two vertical trampolines as dance and projection walls, the seven-person troupe of dancers will amaze and delight audiences with their combination of vertical and arial dance skills. The piece includes an original music score composed by concert violinist Zachary Carrettin. Arranging and audio engineering was performed by Raymond Granlund, and video by cinematographer Greg Bernstein. When the production is complete, it will tour the US in the fall of 2003, including a performance at The Kennedy Performance Center in Washington D.C. The June 5, 6, and 7 performances begin at 8pm and the June 8 performance begins at 7pm. Tickets are $10-$15. Space is limited. For reservations and information, call Project Bandaloop at 510-451-5667 or visit www.projectbandaloop.org
