"Becoming Almost Famous: My Back Pages in Music, Writing, and Life" is a collection of favorite articles from Ben Fong-Torres, the pioneering music writer. This new book features pieces on Paul McCartney, the summer of love, the Rolling Stones, groupies of the 80s, etc…. And through insightful introductions, the author offers a backstage view of the writing process, from getting an assignment and developing an idea to completing an article for publication.
From 1969 to 1981, Ben Fong-Torres was one of the "star" writers on staff at Rolling Stone - the "scruffy rock journal" that metamorphosed into one of the most powerful voices of a generation. His role as a rock critic was portrayed in the celebrated film, Almost Famous.
