Ann Arbor's Ghostly International label has never worried about sticking to any one sound, but the Mobius Band's five-track City vs Country EP marks a real departure from the label's clubland roots. The Brooklyn-based trio dives into heartfelt, ultra-melodic songs with echoes of Interpol, Radiohead, and even early R.E.M.; they touch up their music with hints of electronics — taut electro beats here, trickling synthesizers there — but at heart they're a rock band, stuffing stadium-sized sounds into neat little packages that explode upon opening. At least three of City vs Country's songs are bona fide anthems, so bring a lighter and raise it high. (PS)
