Marin Theatre Company Presents “Bus Stop” - A Comedy Until 4/17!
In its fourth production of the season, Marin Theatre Company celebrates the 50 year anniversary of Bus Stop, the classic comedy by William Inge (Picnic) that focuses on the relationships formed when a group of bus passengers are stranded at a mid-western bus stop in the middle of a snowstorm. Bus Stop opens in Previews March 17 (Opening Night is Tuesday, March 22, 8PM) and runs through April 17. It is directed by Michael Butler. Bus Stop is centered on the volatile and spirited relationship between Cherie (Kathleen Dobbs), a small-time chanteuse and Bo (Craig Marker), her hopeful cowboy lover, who thinks that ‘kidnapping’ is a sure way to win a woman’s heart. Adding to the relationship stew are fellow travelers Virgil (JD Nelson), Bo’s guitar-strumming buddy, Dr. Lyman (Howard Swain), the charming intellectual whose banter captivates Elma (Lindsay Benner), the very young waitress and Carl (Rhonnie Washington), the bus driver. Will Marchetti plays Will, the stern local sheriff who tries to keep this rowdy bunch under control and Cathleen Riddley plays Grace, who runs the street corner coffee shop with a steady hand – and an eye on Carl.
