Marin Theatre Compay Presents FORTUNE Through 2/13

MILL VALLEY, CA – In 2003, the Marin Theatre Company captivated audiences with THE LAST SCHWARTZ, a poignant and heartwarming comedy, written by New York playwright Deborah Zoe Laufer. In its third production of the season, MTC welcomes back Ms. Laufer with the World Premiere of her new play, FORTUNE, another slice-of-life comedy, January 13-February 13, 2005. (Opening Night is Tuesday, January 18). Laufer again sets her action in New York City, this time centering on the world of clairvoyance and Maude (Julia Brothers), a reluctant and accurate fortuneteller. A third generation seer, Maude cleverly disguises her fears of involvement by hiding behind her many veils, costumes and exotic accents. Her own future becomes cloudy when a persistent client (Darren Bridgett), hopeless, lonely and longing for companionship, knocks on her door and insists on a reading. It’s a reading that subsequently alters the course of both of their lives. FORTUNE is directed by MTC Artistic Director Lee Sankowich.

Performances are Thursday, January 13 through Sunday, February 13. (OPENING NIGHT IS TUESDAY, January 18, 8PM). Regular Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8PM; Wednesdays, at 7:30pm; Sunday matinees at 2PM with Sunday evening performances at 7PM. There are matinees on Wednesday, January 26 and Thursday February 3 at 1PM and Saturdays, January 22 and February 12 at 2PM. All performances are at Marin Theatre Company, 397 Miller Avenue in Mill Valley. Tickets range from $28-$46 with Pay-What-You-Can on Tuesdays, excluding Opening Night, January 18. Senior tickets are half price for weekday and Saturday matinees. Half-price tickets are available for full-time students. Order tickets at 415-388-5208 or online at www.marintheatre.org
