"Desire Lines" by Meanderthals from Desire Lines

Idjut Boys + Rune Lindbęk = Meanderthals
No reason to even preview these tracks, just run out to the local shop and pick this one up. Perfect sounds for a slowly simmering summer day to keep your head cool. Meanderthals are the dubby counterpart to A Mountain of One, keeping the tempos slow, the bass grooving, synths baking and the guitars shimmering and chiming to infinity with a nice smattering of percussive spiciness on top. Desire Lines.

"SPACEBASS" by Boxcutter from Arecibo Message

Boxcutter dropping this new album recently. Gets thrown in with the whole dubstep camp. Unsure of the need for the English to come up with new micro genres every 5 minutes. Regardless, this thing is a trip throughout and this one sounds like he's pulling out his wiggle stix.

"All" by DJ Marbo et al. from Tokyo Balearic (Shibuya FM)

Now easily accessible through itunes.
"DJ Marbo's style: kind of minimalist and dirty bass driven house, with a melty coating of more glitzy Pacha like vibes drizzled over the top"

"Betta" by Twennynine Featuring Lenny White from Best of Friends

Bright, sunny R&B for a crappy Monday after a beautiful weekend. Keeping this on repeat knowing things will always get Betta.

"Making of Security" by Peter Gabriel from South Bank Show (London - 1982)

This is not really a cruiser but I am at about 37,000 feet cruising over South Dakota on my way out to SF.
Pulled down the the prog rock doc that sublime posted last week for some in flight viewing and grabbed some others from the poster.
The doc on the Peter Gabriel Security sessions reinforcing just how incredibly innovative Gabriel was.

"San Franciscan Nights" by Gabor Szabo and the California Dreamers from Wind, Sky And Diamonds

Prepping some mixes for my trip out west I dug up this hip hop nugget and had to find the original sample of that chorus. Gabor doing some California dreaming of those warm San Franciscan nights. (I remember them being pretty cool, myself)

"I'm So Afraid" by Fleetwood Mac from Fleetwood Mac

Finally caught the Mac last night at MSG. Great show but there is definitely something missing without Christie up there. Band played for over two hours with no let-up. Buckingham feeling especially FREE on the 10 minute extended ending to this one.

"Look At You, Look At Me" by Dave Mason from Alone Together

Perhaps it was my Chimney sense telling me Mason would be artist of the day today that made me grab this out of the dollar bin after passing it by numerous times. Pretty top notch early 70s rock all the way through but I'm really diggin the jammin that closes the album especially Mason's solo to finish off the last 3 minutes. That bit at about 5:38 sounds awfully familiar...
