Thoroughly enjoyed last night's Todd Rundgren show despite myself. I'm a huge fan of the Nazz as well as his solo pop jams from the 70s, but don't have a tremendous amount of patience for some of his more self-indulgent "experimental" exploits. Last night's show was built around some sort of high-concept statement that sailed right over my head, complete with outfit changes, elaborate sets, etc. Not my jam. Still, there's something about seeing a favorite performer live for the first time after listening to his records for 14 odd years. It was nice to see "Hello It's Me" live, even tho the performance was kinda by-the-numbers.
Kicker. Todd walked into the bar were I went to hang out after the show. Before he sat down to scarf down a burger, I shook his hand and grabbed a geeky fanboy photo with the guy. It's super funny becaues I'm beaming in it and he looks vaguely annoyed, although maybe he was tired after rocking out for 2+ hours.
