Darling of the airwaves, Mattie Safer aka lovetempo, returns to Razor-N-Tape with a remix package of his much lauded ‘But I Do’ and some serious reworks of a modern love song that has resonated with so many.
Poolside and The Rapture vocalist Safer, takes us back to his after the club to carry the party on. The mood is chill, the drinks are flowing, the shoes are off.
This is the playlist...
Milton Nascimento - Tudo O Que Você Podia Ser

I love his voice, there's so much feeling in it. And when it hits the guitar riff my neck gets to snappin'.
Love - She Comes In Colors

This song feels so amazing when the band kicks in! I love Arthur Lee's vocals, but also it's really fun to imitate him and sing his ridiculous lyrics, so it would be fun for a late night giggle.
79.5 - So Real

Kate writes such beautiful songs, and I love the way her and Lola's voice work together. This is such a beautiful album, and they are one of my favorite groups around.
Patrice Rushen - Where There Is Love

I love the cool chromatic walk down that happens at the end of the first chorus, and I love even more that it only happens one time in the song.
Lianne La Havas - Read My Mind

During the early days of COVID lockdown I would sit at my piano and try to learn songs, and this was one of my faves. I love the way the harmonies move in this song, and Lianne has my favorite voice, hands down.
Donald Byrd - You And The Music

I could wax poetic about the beauty of the strings on this record forever, and I love a good duet, their voices blend so wonderfully.
Mr. Fingers - What About This Love

This is really just such a beautifully written song. Larry Heard 's music has this plaintive, lonely yet romantic quality that really touches me.
Roy Ayers - Chicago

This track has a darkness and drive that feels like both the perfect off-ramp from the club and the perfect on-ramp to oblivion.
Madison McFerrin - Stay Away (From Me)

The harmonies!!!! Ugh, I could die. And those dark piano chords, with the simplest of drum arrangements. One of my favorite albums of recent memory.
Billy Cobham - Le Lis

An undeniable groove, and I’ve never heard a chiller use of a China cymbal in my life. Feels like a perfect way to end the night and send everyone off to bed.
