I was riding on an elevator that was several times wider than normal, and deep enough to comfortably fit the near 20 people riding on it. There was a stainless steel bench on the back wall, which I remember being very shiny. The elevator got stuck and people started to get restless, but then something broke and we fell several floors. The elevator stopped and the doors opened, but we were halfway below the ground floor. The doors closed again and the elevator lowered further to become a subway train car (seemingly by design). We reached the end of the subway track, and stepped out into a natural cave, rather than a station. Someone in a subway worker uniform was waiting for us there, and told us this type of malfunction occasionally happened. He then directed us down further into the cave, which he told us was the way to the exit. Everyone remained calm through all this, and I woke up before we got to the exit.
